Genshin Impact Servers: Which Server to Pick
Updated
Genshin Impact has four servers: America, Europe, Asia and TW/HK/MO. Your account lives on one of them for good, so decide first who you play with and when you play.
HoYoverse says it does not support server transfers or merges, and its support centre calls the choice permanent. That makes the server the one setting you can’t fix later. This guide gives you a decision table, the sourced facts, and a plain note on what the choice means if you buy an account.
We sell accounts on America (NA), Europe (EU) and Asia. We don’t list TW/HK/MO accounts.
Key takeaways
- Genshin Impact has four servers (America, Europe, Asia and TW/HK/MO), and HoYoverse says the choice is permanent with no transfer or merge.
- Co-op needs both players on the same server, according to Game8 and the Genshin Impact Wiki. If friends play there, join their server.
- The first digit of your UID shows the server: 6 America, 7 Europe, 8 Asia (10-digit Asia accounts start with 18), and 9 for TW/HK/MO per the Genshin Impact Wiki.
- HoYoverse lists one set of wish rules and none are listed per server. We don’t rank servers as best or worst.
- Listings on our hub state their server, and a bought account can’t move to another region afterward. Pick before you pay.

How many servers does Genshin Impact have?
Four. HoYoverse’s support centre lists them as Asia, Europe, Americas and TW, HK, MO (Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau). The in-game names are America, Europe, Asia and TW/HK/MO. Progress, characters and purchases stay on the server they started on, and data from different servers can’t be combined.
| Server | UID first digit | Daily reset (server clock) | Reset in UTC |
|---|---|---|---|
| America | 6 | 04:00 (UTC-5) | 09:00 |
| Europe | 7 | 04:00 (UTC+1) | 03:00 |
| Asia | 8 (10-digit accounts start with 18) | 04:00 (UTC+8) | 20:00 the day before |
| TW/HK/MO | 9 (Genshin Impact Wiki) | Game8 groups it with Asia; no separate official figure | Game8 groups it with Asia; no separate official figure |
Game8 and the Genshin Impact Wiki give the reset times, and we found no current official page that lists them per server, so the UTC column is our arithmetic from their offsets.
Which Genshin Impact server should you pick?
Pick the server your friends play on. If nobody you know plays, pick the one whose 04:00 reset falls at a useful hour for you. No source ranks one server above another, so we don’t name a best one. The table below turns each priority into a rule.
| If this matters most | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Friends already play | Their server | Co-op needs the same server (Game8, Genshin Impact Wiki) |
| Dailies at a set hour | The server whose 04:00 reset suits your day | Reset is 04:00 server time, see the first table |
| You top up with an Apple ID | The server that matches your Apple ID country or region | HoYoverse says they should match for the in-game shop to load |
| You play on PlayStation | The server of your PSN account region | HoYoverse says PlayStation sets the server by PSN region |
| You travel a lot | Any server | HoYoverse says you can sign in from any region |
| You are buying a reroll account | The server you will actually play on | It can’t be moved afterward |
The table leaves out ping and server population because we found no sourced figures for either.
Can you change your Genshin Impact server?
No. HoYoverse’s support article says “We do not support server transfer or server merge services.” It also says to select the server carefully “as this choice is permanent”. Progress, characters and purchases stay on the original server, and data from different servers can’t be combined.
If you picked wrong, the only fix HoYoverse describes is starting a new account on the correct server. The old one stays where it is. Read the official server transfer article for the exact wording.
You can still play from anywhere. HoYoverse says you can sign in from any region regardless of where you are physically. The server is fixed, the location isn’t.
Can you play with friends on another server?
No. Game8 and the Genshin Impact Wiki both state that co-op needs both players on the same server. We found no current HoYoverse page that states it directly, so we credit the two guides. The wiki’s UID page says it is not possible to play with players on different servers, nor to sync data across different servers.
A different first digit means a different server. See Game8 on choosing the same server as your friends and the Genshin Impact Wiki co-op page. If your group is split across regions, one of you needs a fresh account on the other server.
How do you find your server in Genshin Impact?
Read the first digit of your UID, or the first two if it has 10 digits. Game8 and the Genshin Impact Wiki UID page (checked 8 October 2026) list 6 as America, 7 as Europe and 8 as Asia. The wiki adds that 10-digit Asia accounts start with 18 and TW/HK/MO accounts start with 9. Some guides print 6 and 7 the wrong way round.
The wiki says the UID is always visible in the bottom-right corner of the screen, and also in the Paimon Menu. In the co-op list it shows under a player’s nickname once you open their profile. Menu steps can vary by platform.
The UID is also the quickest way to confirm a bought account. Listings on our hub state their server, so the first digit should match it.
Does the server affect top-ups, codes and consoles?
Yes, in several ways, all from HoYoverse’s support centre. Redeem codes must match your server region. Apple ID and PlayStation Network regions should match the server for the in-game shop to load. On PlayStation, the server follows the region of your PSN account.
- Redeem codes. HoYoverse says to make sure the code matches your server region.
- Store region. HoYoverse says your Apple ID or PSN region should match the game server region.
- PlayStation. The server is set by your PSN account region.
- Cross-save. With a Microsoft-linked account, HoYoverse says to select the same game server to reach your progress.
- Monthly passes. HoYoverse says Welkin Moon and Gnostic Hymn availability and pricing may vary by region and platform.
Does the server change your pulls or rates?
HoYoverse lists one set of wish rules, and none are listed per server. Its guarantee article gives a 5-star within 90 wishes on the character banner and 80 on the weapon banner, with no server variants. That is what the official page says. It is not a separate promise about every server.
Read the official wish guarantee article if you want the numbers in full.
Which server suits a reroll account?
The one you will play on long term. A reroll account lives on a single server, and a bought account can’t move to another region afterward. Listings on our hub state their server, so check it before you pay.
All sales are final because the products are digital. If delivery runs past 24 hours you may ask to cancel before delivery and request a refund. Our refund policy has the full terms.
Our listings show NA, EU and Asia in the title, and the server selector on a character page reads America, Europe or Asia. They mean the same thing. We list those three servers and no TW/HK/MO accounts.
Buying an account breaks HoYoverse’s rules. The Genshin Impact terms of service (last updated May 20th, 2026) bar transferring an account or using another user’s in section 2(g), and the support centre tells players: “Please do not buy, sell, or share accounts.” We can’t control what the publisher does. We check each account by hand against its listing, and the 5-day warranty lets us assist with eligible issues such as an account that doesn’t match its description or loss of access caused by the original source. Our guide on whether it is safe to buy a Genshin Impact account covers the risks before you order.
Accounts are delivered by email, usually within minutes of payment. Our delivery policy sets 24 hours from order confirmation. New to the idea? What a reroll account is covers the basics. See the hub for current prices.
