Zenless Zone Zero Reroll Guide: Steps, Time and Is It Worth It?

Updated

Rerolling in Zenless Zone Zero means making a new HoYoverse account, playing the opening until Signal Search opens, spending the starting Master Tapes and starting over if the result is weak. One attempt takes about 40 minutes according to Game8, and Game8 and Gamerant both advise against it.

The reason is the pool. A fresh account starts on the Stable Channel, so the S-Rank you roll there is a standard-banner agent. Limited agents sit behind Encrypted Master Tapes, and the free ones come from a time-limited login event.

We checked the official HoYoverse pages and the current guides on 29 September 2026, on the version 3.2 build. Most reroll guides date from July and August 2024, so the post marks which numbers are old.

Key takeaways

  • A reroll is a loop of new HoYoverse account, opening story, Signal Search on the Stable Channel, then repeat. Game8’s 2024 guide puts one attempt at about 40 minutes.
  • A fresh account starts on the Stable Channel. Limited channels take Encrypted Master Tapes, and Master Tapes can’t be spent there. We found no guide that pulls a limited agent on a fresh account.
  • Every realistic target is one of six permanent S-Rank agents. Game8’s tier list, updated 2026-09-28, ranks Lycaon first, then Koleda and Rina.
  • Each attempt needs a new HoYoverse account. Game8 says there are no guest accounts, and Prydwen reports that plus-address email tricks are blocked for ZZZ.
  • Buying a starter account skips the loop but breaks HoYoverse’s terms. We control checking and delivery. HoYoverse controls enforcement.

How do you reroll in Zenless Zone Zero?

What a fresh account has to spend on the Stable Channel.

You create a new HoYoverse account, play the opening story until Signal Search opens, spend your starting Master Tapes on the Stable Channel and check the S-Rank result. Happy with it, you keep the account. If not, you leave it behind and repeat the loop with a new account.

  1. Create the account. Sign up by email in the HoYoverse Account Center or in the game client, set a password, accept the terms and confirm through the link HoYoverse emails you. Third-party login is the only other route. HoYoverse recommends an email you can open and 2FA.
  2. Pick a server. HoYoverse offers no server migration, so choose the region you would play on if the account turns out well.
  3. Play the prologue. Signal Search opens after roughly 20 to 30 minutes of play, per Game8. Game8 also says some dialogue and cutscenes can’t be skipped.
  4. Open the mailbox. Claim whatever Master Tapes are waiting. Guides from 2024 pointed to pre-registration rewards sent by mail. We couldn’t confirm what new accounts receive now, so read the tape count on your own screen.
  5. Spend on the Stable Channel. Prydwen reports that a fresh account is sent to the Star-Studded Cast channel first.
  6. Judge the result. If it’s an agent you want, stop. Otherwise register a new account and go again.

Deleting a HoYoverse account wipes every linked HoYoverse game. Our guide to resetting a Genshin Impact account covers that, and ZZZ uses the same HoYoverse account system.

We found no official HoYoverse statement on whether rerolling itself is penalised, so we make no claim either way.

How long does one ZZZ reroll attempt take?

Game8 puts one attempt at around 40 minutes in total, with Signal Search opening after about 20 to 30 minutes. That page dates from July 2024, and we haven’t re-timed it on the current build. Treat the figure as a guide and check it against your own first run.

Item Time Basis
Until Signal Search opens About 20 to 30 minutes Game8, page dated 2024-07-09
One full attempt About 40 minutes Game8, same page
3 attempts 2 hours Example: 3 x 40 minutes
5 attempts 3 hours 20 minutes Example: 5 x 40 minutes
10 attempts 6 hours 40 minutes Example: 10 x 40 minutes

The last three rows are multiplication, not measured runs. They show how fast a search for one specific agent eats an evening.

What can a fresh account pull with its free tapes?

A fresh account can pull on the Stable Channel (Star-Studded Cast), which uses Master Tapes. Limited agent and W-Engine channels take Encrypted Master Tapes, and Master Tapes can’t be spent there. We found no guide that pulls a limited agent on a fresh account.

Channel Ticket Does a reroll guide reach it?
Stable Channel (Star-Studded Cast) Master Tape Yes. This is where a new account’s starting tapes go.
Limited agent channel Encrypted Master Tape We found no guide that does.
W-Engine channel Encrypted Master Tape We found no guide that does.

The official “All-New Program” event needs Inter-Knot Level 5 and the prologue “The Hare and the Proxy”. It gives 10 Encrypted Master Tapes for seven cumulative login days, and it runs until 2026-10-20 (03:59 server time). Encrypted Master Tapes can also be bought with Polychrome, 160 Polychrome each per Game8. We couldn’t confirm how much Polychrome a fresh account holds.

The limited banner rotates each phase. Check the official in-game notice for what is running on the day you play.

What the Stable Channel gives a new player

Game8 lists three things worth knowing before you spend a tape:

  • Newcomer offer. Your first five ten-searches cost 8 Master Tapes instead of 10. The first S-Rank is guaranteed within 50 searches and is an agent. It applies once.
  • Rates. Game8 lists a base S-Rank rate of 0.600% and a guaranteed S-Rank by search 90.
  • Selector. After 300 total Stable Channel searches, which needn’t be consecutive, you pick any one of the six S-Rank agents.

We read these on Game8, not on HoYoverse’s own page, which we couldn’t open. Check the in-game channel details before you count on them.

Do you need a new email for every ZZZ reroll?

Each attempt needs a new HoYoverse account. Prydwen reports that plus-address emails are blocked for ZZZ rerolls, so plan on a separate inbox for each. Game8 says HoYoverse has no guest accounts, and the official sign-up article lists only email registration and third-party login.

We found no HoYoverse statement on aliases either way. Some SEO pages claim the trick works, but none gives a method. We haven’t tested it, so we don’t say it works.

Before you register anything, secure the inbox you sign up with. HoYoverse recommends an email you can access and 2FA on the account.

Is rerolling in Zenless Zone Zero worth it?

For most players, no. Game8 and Gamerant advise against it, both in 2024, and Game8 says rerolling “takes up a lot of time” when a standard S-Rank is guaranteed anyway. PCGamesN and Gfinity say it only pays off if you want a specific agent. The gain is a choice between standard agents, and the price is hours.

Source Verdict Dated
Game8 Not recommended: tedious, poor S-Rank rates, guaranteed standard S-Rank anyway 2024-07-09
PCGamesN No need to reroll if you don’t mind which standard character you get 2024-07-03
Gamerant Not recommended, because of the time per attempt 2024-07-04
Gfinity Not really worth it unless you want a specific S-Rank 2024-07-04
zenless.gg (fan site) Worth it only during promotion periods 2024-08-01

Rerolling makes sense in one case: you want a particular standard agent from day one and the hours mean little to you. For everyone else, Game8 reports that the newcomer offer on the Stable Channel guarantees a first S-Rank agent within 50 searches, once per account.

Which S-Rank agent should you reroll for?

Aim for one of the six permanent Stable Channel agents: Nekomata, Soldier 11, Koleda, Lycaon, Grace or Rina. None of them is limited. Game8’s reroll tier list, updated 2026-09-28, ranks Lycaon in its top tier, with Koleda and Rina in the tier below.

Agent Game8 reroll tier (2026-09-28)
Lycaon SS (Tier 0)
Koleda S (Tier 1)
Rina S (Tier 1)
Grace A (Tier 2)
Soldier 11 A (Tier 2)
Nekomata (Nekomiya Mana) A (Tier 2)

Game8’s tier labels show reroll priority. Every agent in the table is S-Rank.

Launch-era press picked Rina, Lycaon, Grace and Soldier 11. Game8 also advises against rerolling for A-Rank agents, which is a separate matter from its tier labels.

What are the alternatives to rerolling?

You have two: keep the account you have, or start from a starter account. Keeping your account costs nothing. A starter account skips the loop, but buying one breaks HoYoverse’s terms, and you rely on the seller for delivery and access.

Keep the account you have

If your main account is already running, play it. Per Game8, after 300 Stable Channel searches you can pick any one of the six standard S-Ranks. Our guide on what a reroll account is compares rerolling with buying across all four games.

Start from a starter account

A starter account is a fresh account with the S-Rank pulled and the early story done. HoYoverse’s terms bar transferring an account or trading virtual currency, and its official ZZZ channels state that account trading is prohibited. What HoYoverse does about it is HoYoverse’s call. No seller controls that.

What we handle. Each account is checked by hand against its listing before it is listed. Delivery is usually within minutes of payment (up to 24 hours in rare cases), and if delivery goes past 24 hours you may ask to cancel the order before it is delivered, for a refund. A 5-day warranty runs from the date of purchase and covers an account that doesn’t match its description or loss of access caused by the original source. Extended Warranty at checkout swaps it for 30 or 60 days, and approved claims refund the price minus the warranty fee. All sales are final because the products are digital. The refund policy has the full terms.

After delivery, change the password on the included email and turn on 2FA. Then play normally for 5 to 10 days before you change anything else, because HoYoverse Risk Control checks fresh logins.

FAQ

Can you use the same email to reroll in ZZZ more than once?

Each attempt needs a new HoYoverse account, and Game8 says HoYoverse has no guest accounts. Prydwen reports that plus-address emails are blocked for ZZZ rerolls, so rerollers use separate inboxes. HoYoverse has published nothing on aliases that we could find.

Can you get a limited agent by rerolling in ZZZ?

We found no guide that pulls a limited agent on a fresh account. Limited channels use Encrypted Master Tapes, and Master Tapes can’t be spent there. The official login event for new players pays 10 Encrypted Master Tapes over seven cumulative login days, and it runs until 2026-10-20 (03:59 server time).

Is rerolling in Zenless Zone Zero worth it?

Game8 and Gamerant advised against it in 2024, mainly because of the time per attempt. PCGamesN and Gfinity said it only pays off if you want a specific agent, and that is the one case where it makes sense.

How long does a ZZZ reroll attempt take?

Game8’s 2024 guide gives about 40 minutes in total, with Signal Search opening after about 20 to 30 minutes. We haven’t re-timed it on the current build.

What is the newcomer guarantee on the ZZZ Stable Channel?

Per Game8, your first five ten-searches cost 8 Master Tapes instead of 10. The first S-Rank is guaranteed within 50 searches and is an agent. It applies once per account.

Which agent is best to reroll for in Zenless Zone Zero?

Game8’s reroll tier list, updated 2026-09-28, ranks Lycaon top, then Koleda and Rina. All six Stable Channel agents are permanent, and none is limited.

The short version

A ZZZ reroll is about 40 minutes per attempt by Game8’s 2024 count, and it ends on the Stable Channel with a standard agent. Game8 and Gamerant advised against it. If you want the S-Rank without the loop, browse the Zenless Zone Zero accounts hub for current prices, and remember that buying breaks HoYoverse’s terms.
