A new account has at least a 2.9% to 3.9% chance of landing the featured 5-star from its first 10 pulls on a featured banner: 2.9% in Genshin, HSR and ZZZ, 3.9% in Wuthering Waves. Rerolling for one specific character takes about 26 to 34 resets of 10 pulls on average, or fewer.

What does a fresh account get to pull on?
Every game gives a new account a starter banner with a fixed number of pulls: 20 in Genshin, 50 in Honkai: Star Rail, Wuthering Waves and Zenless Zone Zero. None of them is a featured-character banner, so no starter guarantees a limited character. The featured odds in the tables below are for a featured banner, not for the starter.

On a featured banner, Wuthering Waves has the best odds of the four, and Genshin, HSR and ZZZ tie. The tables below give the chance of at least one 5-star, the chance of the featured one, and the averages. Every figure is a lower bound, because pity only raises the rate.

What are the reroll odds in Genshin Impact?
Genshin’s odds in the tables above use HoYoverse’s official 50% featured rule (support article, updated 24 Aug 2026). One thing the tables leave out is Capturing Radiance, a version 5.0 mechanic that may raise the featured chance to 55%. Here is what we know about it.
HoYoverse announced Capturing Radiance in an official HoYoLAB post (version 5.0, consolidated featured rate 55.000%). HoYoverse’s current support article still states 50%, and Game8 (page updated 22 Sep 2026) lists it as live. If it applies, Genshin’s featured odds become 3.2%, 6.2% and 14.3% in 10, 20 and 50 pulls (13.0% at 50 without it), and about 31 resets of 10 pulls on average.

What are the reroll odds in Honkai: Star Rail?
Honkai: Star Rail’s odds are in the tables above, using HoYoverse’s rate page (updated 12 Jul 2026). What they leave out is the Departure Warp itself, whose guaranteed 5-star comes from one of seven standard characters. The details below are per Game8 (3 Jul 2026).
The Departure Warp is 10-pulls only, gives up to 50 Warps, and is gone after 50. The seven characters are Bailu, Bronya, Clara, Gepard, Himeko, Welt and Yanqing.

What are the reroll odds in Wuthering Waves?
Wuthering Waves’ starter details come from Kuro’s Convene Details page (dated 23 May 2024). The Utterance of Marvels closes on your first 5-star and runs on its own counter. Afterwards, Beginner’s Choice lets you pick one of five Resonators, up to 80 pulls, and the pick is guaranteed.

What are the reroll odds in Zenless Zone Zero?
Zenless Zone Zero’s odds are in the tables above. What they leave out is customization: on limited channels, a non-featured S-Rank is guaranteed to be one of six Agents you picked. HoYoverse announced this in an official HoYoLAB post. The tables do not model it.

Should you keep rerolling or buy an account?
Rerolling costs only time. Buying skips the resets, but it carries a real risk. HoYoverse’s terms for Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero bar transferring your account or sharing its details with third parties, so buying an account goes against them. Kuro Games publishes its own terms for Wuthering Waves; read them before you buy.

How we worked this out
We took the published rates for each game and worked out the odds ourselves. HoYoverse’s rate pages give HSR’s rates (12 Jul 2026) and Genshin’s 50% rule and 90 hard pity (24 Aug 2026). Kuro’s Convene Details page (23 May 2024) gives Wuthering Waves’ rates. Genshin’s and ZZZ’s base and consolidated rates come from community wikis, because the publisher shows them only in-game. The 50/50 rule for HSR and ZZZ is per Game8.
The formulas, for anyone who wants to check: at least one 5-star in n pulls = 1 – (1 – base)n. Featured within n pulls (n up to 50) = p x that, with p = 50%. Pulls per 5-star = 1 / consolidated rate. Pulls per featured = (2 – p) / consolidated rate. Resets = 1 / featured chance in 10 pulls. Since pity only raises the rate, these give a floor for the odds and a ceiling for the resets.
FAQ
How many pulls does a new account have to reroll with?
We can’t give one number. We couldn’t confirm a current free-pull count in any of the four games, so the tables show 10, 20 and 50 pulls.
Do these odds apply to weapon banners?
No, the tables use character-banner rates. Wuthering Waves’ weapon banner is the exception on the featured rule: its 5-star is always the featured one (Kuro’s Convene Details page, 23 May 2024).
Where do the rates come from?
HSR’s come from HoYoverse’s rate page and Wuthering Waves’ from Kuro’s Convene Details page. Genshin’s and ZZZ’s base rates come from community wikis, because the publisher shows them only in-game.
What does a 50/50 mean for a reroll?
Under the base rule, the first 5-star is the featured one half the time. If it isn’t, the next 5-star is guaranteed to be.
