Genshin Impact Reroll Guide: How to Reroll and When to Skip It

Updated

Rerolling in Genshin Impact means making a new account, playing the opening until Wishing becomes available, pulling on the Beginners’ Wish and starting over if the pulls miss. One ratio decides whether it is worth your time: minutes per attempt against the number of attempts your target needs.

By our arithmetic, landing any 5-star from the Beginners’ Wish takes about 9 attempts on average. That is roughly 4 to 6 hours at the 25 to 40 minutes per attempt that guides estimate. One named 5-star takes about 44 attempts, or 18 to 29 hours. Those figures rest on assumptions we list, and they promise nothing.

This guide covers how a reroll works on version 7.1, what the time and odds look like, and when we would skip it. The facts were read on 8 October 2026. We sell reroll accounts, so we say where we have a stake.

Key takeaways

  • Wishing becomes available after the Archon Quest “Knights of Favonius” and Adventure Rank 5. The Beginners’ Wish then offers up to 20 wishes, and nothing we read promises a 5-star in them.
  • Guides estimate 25 to 40 minutes per attempt. We have not timed an attempt ourselves on version 7.1.
  • At 0.6% per wish over 20 wishes, one attempt gives about 11.3% for any 5-star and about 2.3% for one specific 5-star out of five. These are our derived figures, built on assumptions we state.
  • While the official standard 5-star invitation event runs, an account with Wishing available can pick a standard 5-star. That removes the main reason to reroll for one.

What is rerolling in Genshin Impact?

Rerolling is starting a brand-new Genshin Impact account again and again, spending the starter pulls each time, until the pulls land the characters you want. The game has no in-game reset, so each attempt is a separate account. A reroll account is one a player already did this on and hit.

Our guide to what a reroll account is explains the terms in full. For how the odds compare in other games, see reroll odds by game. This post stays on Genshin Impact.

How does a Genshin Impact reroll work today?

A reroll attempt has four steps: create a new HoYoverse Account, play until the Archon Quest “Knights of Favonius” is done and you reach Adventure Rank 5, spend the Acquaint Fate you have on the Beginners’ Wish, then keep the account if it hit or abandon it if it did not.

HoYoverse’s Help Center (updated 19 November 2025) names that quest and rank as the point where Shop and Wishing become available.

How do you make a new account?

HoYoverse’s Help Center article on creating an account (updated 5 September 2026) lists email registration with a confirmation link, or third-party login, in the Account Center or in the game. It says to use a valid email you can access.

Some older guides describe signing up with a username only. The Help Center article does not list that. It says nothing about using one email for several accounts or about plus-address aliases, so we will not claim either way.

What can the Beginners’ Wish give a new account?

It gives up to 20 wishes, and no more. The banner has no time limit and closes after 20 wishes. The official HoYoLAB post (28 September 2020) describes the set contents, and Game8 and GameWith agree with it in pages updated in September and October 2026.

Starter bonuses have changed since launch. The official launch post of 19 September 2020 put a Version 1.1 deadline on its Primogem reward for reaching Adventure Rank 7, so amounts quoted from that period are stale.

How much Acquaint Fate a new account holds when Wishing opens today, we could not confirm. Older guides quote starter amounts from launch-era promotions. Treat those figures as stale and plan for “up to 20”, not “20”.

What did older guides get wrong?

Most readable reroll guides date from 2020 to 2023. Three claims in them no longer hold, and one piece of advice now has an alternative.

Older guides say Today
Sign up with a username only HoYoverse’s Help Center article lists email or third-party login (5 September 2026)
A 5-star is certain inside the 20 Beginners’ Wish pulls (some summaries and seller pages) The official post lists a 4-star in each set and no 5-star promise
New accounts get launch-era starter bonuses Those came with deadlines, and we could not confirm current amounts
Older advice that now has an alternative: reroll to get a standard 5-star An official event lets an account pick one while it runs (see the skip section)

How long does one Genshin reroll attempt take?

Guides estimate 25 to 40 minutes per attempt: Game8 says 25 to 30 on a good run, GameWith says about 40, and Game8 warns a first-timer can take close to an hour. We have not timed an attempt on version 7.1, so treat the range as an estimate.

Guide Estimate Page date
Game8 fastest-method guide 25 to 30 minutes; close to an hour for new players Body text 4 October 2021
Game8 reroll tier list About 30 minutes 25 September 2026
GameWith reroll guide About 40 minutes 7 October 2026
DiamondLobby 15 to 20 minutes to Adventure Rank 5, 40 to 50 to Rank 7 23 February 2023

We use 25 to 40 minutes because Game8 and GameWith are two separately written guides. Both say they do not recommend rerolling. GameWith’s reader comments call parts of its page outdated, which fits the pattern above.

How many attempts does a specific 5-star take?

Landing any 5-star from the Beginners’ Wish takes about 9 attempts on average, and one named 5-star takes about 44. Those figures come from a 0.6% rate over 20 wishes and the assumptions below. That is our arithmetic. It promises nothing, and a run can go much better or much worse.

What are we assuming?

  • A 0.6% 5-star rate on every wish (Game8).
  • All 20 wishes are paid for. We could not confirm a new account can afford that. If only the first 10 are affordable, the chance of any 5-star per attempt falls to about 5.8%.
  • The pool holds five 5-stars (Game8) and each is equally likely. No source we read says they are equal. That part is our assumption.
  • Base rate only. We found no source on whether the Beginners’ Wish tracks pity, so we count none.

What does the arithmetic give?

  • Any 5-star in one attempt: 1 minus 0.994 to the power of 20, which is about 11.3%.
  • One named 5-star of the five: 11.3% divided by 5, about 2.3%. We ignore the small chance of two 5-stars in one attempt.
  • Average attempts: 1 divided by 0.113 is about 8.8 for any 5-star. 1 divided by 0.0227 is about 44 for a named one.
Attempts Chance of any 5-star Chance of a named 5-star
1 11.3% 2.3%
6 51% 12.9%
10 70% 20.5%
30 97% 50%
100 About 100% 90%

How many hours is that?

Hours equal attempts times minutes, divided by 60. At 25 to 40 minutes, the average any-5-star run of 8.8 attempts is about 3.7 to 5.9 hours.

Attempts At 25 min At 30 min At 40 min
1 0.4 h 0.5 h 0.7 h
6 2.5 h 3.0 h 4.0 h
10 4.2 h 5.0 h 6.7 h
44 (average for a named 5-star) 18.4 h 22.1 h 29.4 h
100 (90% for a named 5-star) 41.7 h 50.0 h 66.7 h

Read the bottom rows twice. A 90% chance at one named 5-star means about 100 attempts, and every one of them is a new account to set up.

What does a reroll attempt cost besides time?

Each attempt needs its own account and a way to sign in, so the cost is time plus admin. Server migration is not offered, so choose before attempt one. Deletion removes everything on that HoYoverse Account, and there is no in-game reset. Keep the hit’s details somewhere safe.

  • Sign-in. Use an email you can access, or a third-party login. HoYoverse’s Help Center article does not say whether one email can serve several accounts.
  • Server. HoYoverse says server migration is not available, so a wrong pick means a new account.
  • Missed accounts. They stay until you delete them. Deletion is account-wide: it removes the data of every game tied to that HoYoverse Account, with a 30-day window in which logging in cancels it. Our guide on how to reset a Genshin Impact account has the steps.
  • A hit. Keep the login details and secure the email with a new password and 2FA.

When should you skip rerolling?

While the official standard 5-star invitation event runs (to 3 November 2026, 14:59), skip rerolling for a standard 5-star. Skip it for a limited character too (limited banners use Intertwined Fate), and when your hours are worth more than a ready account. The time math above decides the rest.

Is there an official way to get a standard 5-star without rerolling?

As of 8 October 2026, yes. The official event “Across the Frozen Wilds, Honing One’s Edge” (HoYoLAB notice, 21 September 2026) lets an account with Wishing available pick one 5-star from the standard Wanderlust Invocation pool, once, with ascension materials included. The notice lists an end of 3 November 2026, 14:59, with no time zone stated.

It states no Adventure Rank or account-age condition. So while the event runs, a standard 5-star target does not need a reroll. Check the in-game event page for current dates, because this one expires.

A second selector event, “Tabletop Troupe” (notice), offers an event-exclusive 5-star but needs Adventure Rank 18 and the Chapter VII Act IV quest. A fresh account cannot meet that in a reroll sitting.

What about limited characters?

The Beginners’ Wish and the standard banner use Acquaint Fate. Limited banners use Intertwined Fate, which Game8 lists as coming slowly from the Tour Guide after Archon Quests, the Battle Pass, events and Paimon’s Bargains. Our reading: a fresh account has no route to meaningful limited pulls in one sitting. The Beginners’ Wish pool holds standard characters only.

When does rerolling yourself make sense?

Any 5-star from the pool is enough for you, you like the opening hours, and you would rather spend time than money. Set an attempt cap before you start. Six attempts is about 2.5 to 4 hours, and it gives about even odds of any 5-star.

What do we sell if you skip it?

We sell reroll accounts that someone has already rolled. Each one is checked by hand against its listing, and the login details reach you by email, usually within minutes of payment. The delivery policy states the details arrive within 24 hours of order confirmation.

Buying an account breaks HoYoverse’s terms, which bar account transfers (section 2(g)). What HoYoverse does about that is outside our control. We control the check against the listing, the delivery, and the cancellation rule if delivery passes 24 hours. Our guide on whether it is safe to buy a Genshin Impact account goes through the risk and the first hour after delivery.

Terms in short. The products are digital and all sales are final. Each account carries a 5-day warranty, and under it we assist with eligible issues such as a listing mismatch or loss of access caused by the original source. If an order is still undelivered after 24 hours, you can ask us to cancel it before delivery and request a refund. The refund policy has the rest.

Once the account is yours, lock down the included email with a new password and 2FA first, then leave the other details alone for 5 to 10 days of ordinary play. See the Genshin Impact accounts hub for what is in stock and for current prices.

FAQ

How many pulls do you get when you reroll?

Up to 20 on the Beginners’ Wish, which closes after 20 wishes. Both 10-wish sets together cost 16 Acquaint Fate. We could not confirm how much a new account holds today, so check in the game whether all 20 are affordable.

How long does a Genshin reroll take?

Guides estimate 25 to 40 minutes per attempt: Game8 says 25 to 30 and GameWith says about 40. A first-timer can take close to an hour. We have not timed it on version 7.1. Multiply by the number of attempts you need.

Can you get a 5-star from the Beginners’ Wish?

Yes, at 0.6% per wish according to Game8, but nothing in the official post or Game8’s page promises one. Across 20 wishes that is about 11.3% per attempt by our arithmetic, built on the assumptions listed above.

Can you reroll on the same account?

Not by resetting. Genshin Impact has no in-game reset, and deleting a HoYoverse Account removes the data of every game tied to it, with a 30-day window in which logging in cancels the deletion. Each attempt uses a new account.

Is rerolling allowed?

We found no HoYoverse rule that names rerolling, and we do not read that as permission. Buying or selling an account is barred by HoYoverse’s terms.

What is a reroll account?

An account a player kept restarting until its opening pulls landed the characters on its listing, sold with the login details. We explain the term in more depth in a separate guide.

The short version

A reroll costs 25 to 40 minutes an attempt by the guides’ estimates, and a named 5-star can need dozens of attempts. Skip it for a standard 5-star while the official invitation event runs, and for limited characters. Our current accounts are on the Genshin Impact accounts hub.
